Wonderful

EDI
Mar 9, 2018,

On behalf of the EDI Safety Committee, I would like to commend Jim Diffenderfer for his excellent assistance in helping guide us through how to upgrade the functionality and overall safety of our plant.

He has visited us several times and always provided detailed guidance, helpful tips, and spurred us on to be a better, safer workplace!  His attention and care to his craft is evident, we could NOT have achieved the success within our plant without his help. He never made us feel inadequate, stupid, or inattentive. Every consideration was made so that we LEARNED something, MOVED forward in a positive direction, without ever a cross or condescending tone. He was wonderful!

I cannot extend enough thanks to Jim. We at EDI are now miles ahead of where we were in terms of fixing hundreds of little things that needed to be attended to.

Thank you for having him available for our needs.

Experience modifier has decreased by 35%

Environmental Dynamics International (EDI) is a leading provider of engineered aeration and bio-treatment solutions to the water and wastewater industries worldwide. From our headquarters in Columbia, MO, we serve customers in over 100 countries. During the period 2000-2005, the company did not have enough focus on workplace accidents both in the production environment and in the office. As a result, our experience modifier rose consistently to a peak of 1.24 in 2005. The company made a commitment to safety during that period and called upon our insurance agent, Steve Tade and Winter-Dent, to assist in revamping our workplace injury program.

Using Winter-Dent’s internal expertise, the resources they were able to provide through the insurance carrier and the commitment of the EDI team to improve, we have achieved a significant improvement in our safety record. During the period 2006-2011, the experience modifier has decreased by 35%. During that same period, EDI has significantly expanded our personnel, more than doubling our personnel and payroll, yet keeping the total worker’s compensation premium dollars level with the 2005 costs.

The assistance offered by Winter-Dent and the insurance carrier in OSHA training, loss control prevention and the like has been instrumental in helping the internal safety team members achieve these terrific results. The partnership we have created is important to our total corporate success and we highly recommend other firms employ a similar approach to controlling the workplace injury exposure.

We very much appreciate the value added service offered by Winter-Dent and the improvement in our total work environment they have helped us achieve.

Vice President of Operations, Environmental Dynamics International (EDI)

Got Out of the Pool

To Whom It May Concern,

Mr. Tade stopped by our office in early 2012. He was talking with our receptionist about how he specializes in helping companies with their workers’ comp. I heard this and had him come into my office to discuss it further. Mr. Tade gathered some information on our workers’ comp and performed an analysis on it. At the time, we were content with where our insurance was. Within the next year, we had some workers’ comp claims and ended up in the assigned risk pool. Steve saw this and recommended that I read a chapter about Paul O’Neil and the safety of Alcoa from “The Power of Habit.” Mr. Tade felt that he could help our company out and gathered some information on our entire insurance program as he started to work with a carrier.

We had a meeting with Jim Diffenderfer from Winter-Dent loss control along with loss control and underwriting from an insurance company. We all worked to put a plan in place to reduce workers’ comp claims and take back control of our insurance program. Our company was able to get out of the pool and save a very substantial amount of money. Steve and Jim continue to work very closely with our management and employees on safety. They regularly attend our monthly safety team meetings. We have changed our company culture and helped things move in the right direction. Our employees have made safety a top priority. I strongly recommend that you see what Winter-Dent can do to help you control your workers’ comp costs.

Sincerely,

Relationship is a 10+

December 24, 2013

We were referred to Steve Tade at Winter Dent from a long term client of his and a friend of ours in 2010. We had a very long term relationship with our agent at that time. Steve came in and reviewed our policies and really took an interest in our business and how he could best help us. We moved our insurance program to him on January 1, 2011. We have been extremely happy with the way he enhanced our coverage and took the time to explain it to us in easy to understand language. We have had a couple of weather claims since then and the claims have been handled great with follow-up from Steve to make sure things were going the way we thought they should. Steve keeps us informed on what is going on in the marketplace. When we need something Winter-Dent gets us our answers in a very timely manner. On a scale of 1-10, I rate our business relationship with Steve Tade and Winter-Dent a 10+.

Sincerely,

Ben Hickman

Outstanding

Capital Railroad Contracting, Inc.
June 28, 2013

My name is John Massey and I am the owner and President of Capital Railroad Contracting, Inc. in Columbia, MO. We have been a customer of Winter-Dent & Co. since 2002.

We have been working with Steve Tade during our business relationship with Winter-Dent & CO. to acquire and renew our commercial insurance and workers’ compensation insurance policies. He is professional and knowledgeable and we appreciate working with him and his staff.

He is very diligent and timely about getting quotes and policies at renewal time and schedules a time to review and accept any questions or concerns regarding the information provided. He is also readily available if there is a question concerning claims.

As we are involved in a hazardous industry, our company takes safety seriously. We have been at our minimum experience mod since 2007. During this time, we had two employees hit by a government vehicle at a job site. Our workers’ compensation company wanted to the pay the claim. This would have caused our experience mod rate to be affected but with Steve’s help, we were able to subrogate this claim and keep it from raising our mod.

We have been very pleased with the professional and personal level of service offered by Steve. We feel the rating of any Company is in direct relation to the quality of their personnel and in this case we are recommending Steve as an outstanding agent.

Misclassification Uncovered

To Whom It May Concern,

Steve Tade with Winter-Dent stopped by one of our locations a year ago and talked to us about our business. He explained how over 70% of businesses are overpaying for work comp and how he specializes in agriculture business and is Certified Work Comp Advisor. He asked to review our policies and see if he could help us with our insurance. We continued to visit about work comp and how it seemed as if our cost kept going up and a few other small issues. Steve took our policies and said he would get back to us in a week. What he found was that some of our employees were not being classified correctly and if we kept payroll reports we could split the payroll of some employees into classes with a much lower rate and reduce our premium. He explained that we could go back 3 years on past audits and get this corrected. He told us who we needed to contact to do this. We were able to get a return of over $60,000 from these past audits. Not only did we recover this money already paid, but we have reduced our annual premium going forward because of this. I would highly recommend you let Steve take a look and see if he can help you with your insurance program.
